Afternoon all,

Going to make a start on this one:-

Have opened the box, and contents are:-

First part of build is the 'office' and nose wheel housing, which are all in these 2 bags.

The kit includes canopy masking, and some screws and washers for wing movement.

Checking out the paint store at present, to ensure I have matching colours to paint list.

More soon, lots of parts, not going to be a quick finish.

Bar is restocked, plenty of chairs, crisps in the box!

Hi Alun

Front row in the middle. Cold beer and ready salted crisps please thumbs up

There certainly does look to be a lot in this kit. Will you build it with the moveable wings? Can't really tell from the photos but I assume the parts are well detailed and free of major mould lines etc and I imagine the fit should be up to Tamiyas usual standard.

One day I must get round to building one of these larger scale aircraft. I have seen a few built and always been impressed.

Lovely choice indeed for the fans of the Mighty Cat! Second to Phantoms only in my eyes, though some might disagree.

But never mind that , allow the Great Dillini to settle down and watch you. I have seen two awfully stunning examples build by my friend Christoff here in Cape Town and can testify to what a good kit it is

I'll sit near the back as I'm dying of man flu but I'll edge closer as things progress. Great looking kit. Never built a Tomcat before so very keen to see how you get on.

Hi Alun,

Front row seat for me too!

Always have been a big fan of the Tomcat ever since I saw The Final Countdown.laugh

Are you going for the VF-84, VF-2 or IRIAF scheme?

Looking forward to see how you tackle Tammie’s p

Afternoon All,

Made a start before it gets too hot, and the 'pager' is quiet for now.

Office is first up, have undercoated all the parts, ready for detail painting next.

Not going with etch, maybe for seat belts, as decals are supplied for belts, which are not that impressive,so will try a paint job as tremendous detail on show in mouldings.

Jim, Tony, Andy and Fernando, welcome along, more beer and crisps on order with 'stores'

Mouldings look really good Jim, have a go at one!!

Tony, thanks for the insight, hope mine turns out well.

Andy, hope you are recovering well

Fernando, probably the VF-84, like the look of the decals.

Photos not brilliant, sorry in a rush.

Hi Guys,

After a disappointing Lions game, a bit of progress:-

Office and nose wheel housing in progress:-

Green screens are decals.

And the wheel housing:-

Further progress on cockpit:-

Side panels (cockpit lining)in progress

And finally the component parts for swing wing mechanism( Jim missed answering your question earlier)

Will have moveable wings:-

That's all for now, Steve J, welcome along, pull up a chair

Sure looks to be a lovely and well endowed birdie thumbs up. Couple of friends of mine are aircraft nuts and i recall talking to them and they raved about a Tamiya Tomcat kit , would this be the one ?
