If you look carefully behind the red ring drawn on the picture you'll see the edge of the engine deck hatch , up and resting against the right hand side fuel drum. I'd be inclined to agree they are the two filter casings removed from on top of the engine and the crew are undertaking repairs.

To add. The long square boxes are the 4 shell containers. Got those now for my model. Plan to mould the finish product for spares. Or does any also know who might produce them as backup.

The Tamiya set is probably the cheapest. Depends on what manufacturer the Panther is from

I never noticed the underside of the hatch! Those casings do seem the right shape and size.
