Go for it.

The market's huge and there are some lovely kits around.

If figure painting is a three-course meal, aircraft are a light snack: a welcome change of pace after all that intensive blending & shading.

Okay... one more Kindle photograph. Cos it's simpler.

Thunderjet got its tummy tickled tonight.

Next job is an all-over coat of satin varnish in preparation for the wash.

...dreaming of suits of armour... mail and plate, with brigandine, sword and buckler.

Why is it that I miss the figures during an aircraft project and vice versa?

Never satisfied. Never contented.

I just bought Airfix's Hurricane mk1. A new-tooled kit and it looks really good.

I can't believe you can get a kit of this standard for seven quid!

If you like this beautiful bird, I recommend this representation.

A quick progress snap.

Light wash applied all over this morning, with darker washes to the undercarriage and ordnance. A dismal day light-wise, so you'll have to take my word for this having gone pretty well.

The Italeri instructions imply that the dark upper surface or the fuselage is applied by decal. Not so, as it turns out; you're supposed to paint it olive green.

Too late. Don't care.

Further pics as things develop.

...canopy got its first coat of aluminium paint, and bits & bobs of extra washing with 'Smoke' happened this afternoon, too.

Nice to get a quiet Monday and push the project forwards.

I often wonder about applying 2 coats of light wash, to emphasise the detail. One always seems a bit of a soft touch.

But then, I used to be an armour modeller, and we all know what THEY'RE like...

Looking good Dave.thumbs up

Are you going to decal it like the box-art plane?

If so it’s going to be a lovely coloured birdie, looking forward to see her with the decals.teeth 2

Ps. Have fun with the Hurricane, the new tool kits from Airfix are very nice.smile p

Thanks, Fernando.

I opted for an alternative colour scheme and am wading through the nightmare of applying the decals.

Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Much swearing and gnashing of teeth.

Decals on. My optimism at the start of the week was misplaced: I should have done a second wash as it has dried too faint and there are areas where nothing is visible in the recesses.

Now the decals are all applied, I daren't do another coat in case it turns into a mess and looks worse.

Am putting this down to experience and forging ahead. The next project will definitely involve two light washes, though.

Never mind; it's a learning curve...
