Haha - morning John. I like the idea of lease lend Woolies paintbrushes

It would have been better if I could have got the letters all about the same height ! thinking

I don't think that the prototype Russians worried much about their fonts judging from any pics I have seen, and John is right about decals, they always look too 'clean' for field work.

Certainly looks authentic to me.

Cheers Kevin although probably best to look away now

Well, I took the plunge and attacked the poor thing with some VJ 4BO, a flat brush and some sponge

Results are as I expected - crap

Hmm, just looks like some idiot attacked it with a sponge and a brush thinking

Not really what I was hoping for

Oh well, I shall attack it further and see just how bad I can make it look

Still have some Krycell products to throw at it as well

Good job they invented Fairy Power Spray - I can always strip it back and try again

Simon

You're too critical of a wip. It's well on the way to looking very nice. Keep at it. you haven't tried a bit of hairspray technique yet.

Simon,

I too think that you're being too harsh. Tinker a little more and it will look great.

Hi Simon

I agree with John. I doubt very much whether in a war situation some Red army squaddie would be too worried about the quality of his sign writing. As for the paint job - it will be fine thumbs up

Hi Simon definitely ok so far as usual have enjoyed tagging along in the background for what it's worth would you have been better off going green first then sponge and dry brush with the white as in that would be as in real life green with white on top or if you do go again the hair spray technique I've only used it once but did it with chipping fluid

It's a bit butt clenching never having done it before but in my humble it looks ok im sure your pull the rabbit from the hat with your next move .

Dave.

She looks as though she's seen a lot of action and not much maintenance, rather a Red Army tradition regarding armor that wasn't supposed to last forever.

Function before all else.

The weathering definitely blends the whole together nicely, really makes the lettering look just right I think.
