870 forum posts 265 photos | I think you've done a cracking job of your diorama so far, Justin, whether its your first or twenty-first! I would be very happy with the groundwork. Being only a fledgling modeller myself, I can only echo some of the suggestions already made regarding putting colour and texture variation into the grass and foliage.
You're doing a grand job of the figures and have probably already discovered most of the basic tips I could give you: a good brush; thinned paints; accentuate creases using lowlights and highlights; using a matt varnish to remove any shine; taking your time (I can't seem to get much time at the bench of late, but the latest figure I am painting (do please look critically at my 70's Brit soldier) has taken too many weeks so far!
; look at other people's work as much as possible (pics on the web and more importantly, if you can, see stuff in exhibitions and competitions) and pick out what appeals to you and try and replicate the effect; keep on asking too, there are some superb modellers on here who are very helpfull. Looking forward to seeing it come together.

12 forum posts 18 photos | thank you for the kind words. i took a look at your british soldier and it is quite outstanding. i was a little scared to do anymore to my figures, but i plan on starting a new dio once i finish this current one. im thinking either modern marines (pre-marpat camo) or perhaps an action scene with american troops in ww2. either way i plan on really brushing up on my figure painting skills.
