Sean, A beautiful finish ! I have a lot of time for guys like you and Mac that can make a great job of the ambush scheme. Perfect results in my opinion. I have lurked on this thread for ages, but really wait to see the results. Well worth waiting for. I hope we can see some more pictures of this first class piece of modelling and finishing

regards
Mark

Thank you all, your kind comments are much appreciated   Finishing this in less than 2 months is a very quick build for me.

Craig, I do have plans for crew to be on and around the tank, I plan to put it in a dio with a Schimmwagen and a KO'd M8 armored car.  As ever, though, with a diorama there's a lot of extra work to do, but we'll see how we go

Tony, the mud is easily done, and I wrote about the technique here (scroll down a bit) .

Neil, thanks - I've just submitted an entry for this month's competition. Fingers crossed!

Mark, thanks very much.  I'm pleased with how it turned out, and found it a lot easier than I expected.  It's also the first time I've had a go at chipping a model, and it's come out OK, I think.  I owe a lot to Mac's blog which contained a lot of good, and clear, advice about painting and finishing well used armour.  Oh, and I've emailed Robin with some more pics , but if you're impatient, the final album is here.

A real stunner Sean and inspirational, it's one I will most definitely have to do some day, fantastic.

Hi Sean, great result and brilliant pics! I loved your blog; tales of droppage, etc and I thought it was just me with an overactive clumsy gland! "Chubby thumbed chaps of the world unite!" I completely agree with you regarding Dragon's inscrutable variant instructions; If I ever see a 30mm mount again.......! I also agree with Craig, even if this doesn't make it to Dio stage put them well-painted figures to good use!

Great build and camouflage, nice one, Sean.

I always have preffered the look of the Henschel turret to the Porsche turret on the King Tiger.......

Cheers,

Thank you guys.  I was very pleassed with how it came out.  It's the first time I've ever tried the ambush scheme, and it was easier than I expected - all I can say is "have a go!"
