Hi Ken,
To keep her clean, the grunts should be on the outside like applique armour.
Seriously though she's looking good.
Cheers

Thanks Adam and VI.  It's feedback from guys like you that improves us amateurs.

The ItA radios turned up today - now that's service.  Many thanks Chris, they look great and the detail is amazing.

Very interesting build Ken and nice work on the interior. I have wondered what these kits are like so it's good to see under the box lid. Sounds like it's not as straight forward as you would have liked but then what's life without a little challenge?

Nice work Ken, I know you can't see most of it when it's all done but don't it feel good knowing it's done ?

I've got the ITA radios, one is going in the Matilda, not until you get one in your hand that appreciate how small they are to have that detail

Hi Ken!

That interioir is looking great - a wonderful dirty tank inside! This is a great subject - one I'd love to have in the collection, but a full resin kit is quite a challenge... Would be possible to start with a Grant and simplify things, I think!

I will definitely tag along and enjoy this... More power to your modelling arm!

All the Best,

Marc

Guys, as I said earlier, praise from the likes of yourselves means a heck of a lot.  Thank you all very much indeed.

Andy,
It's all reasonably straightforward, it's just that with these resin beasts you need to dry fit umpteen times before committing to CA and you need to check references as the instructions are 'iffy'.  No putting Tamiya pegs in holes with these.
But you're right, it is a challenge.

Ian, cheers.  A lot of it will still be seen as there's no turret to hide underneath - so it makes it even more worth it.

Marc,   I was a bit dubious about 'muckying it up' too much at first until VI reminded me just how dirty well-trodden AFV interiors get!
To be honest, resin is fine to work with and like Andy says, a challenge.  If you fancy dipping your toes, go for something like Accurate Armour's Ferret Scout Car as a relatively easy introduction.

Anyway, today's work revolved around getting Chris's excellent No 19 set painted, wired up and fitted on the custom rack...

I've already run a couple of aerial leads down the inside of the roof that would (out of sight) mate up with the two over the top of the set.

That's it for today - I promised the missus I'd take her out for a meal.

Reviewing yesterday's photo close up shows that I could have taken a lot more care squaring up the tops of the radio pieces with a sanding block.  The reason I wasn't too concerned is this:

As you can see, not a lot of it is going to be visible, just enough to make it worth adding the extra cables and getting the colours right.

I've been working on the suspension today.

First the bogies.  Academy M3 units and arms, resin spring units from the spares box, DML return rollers and I did bits on top in plasticard 'cos I threw the original ones away by mistake.

The pic also shows the selection of roadwheels I'll be using.  Mostly Academy solid spoked with two open spoked and two solid ones.  I'm thinking of having one front bogie with open spoke wheels, sprayed OD and roughly brushed SCC2, as a mine-damage repair job.   Maybe even an M4 bogie - would that be feasible?  What are your thoughts?

Then there's the sprockets.  Decisions, decisions...

The resin ones aren't too bad I suppose, just a lot of flash to clean out in the middle.
The alternative is to try and rig an axle or mounting of some sort for the rather lovely Tasca ones.  Of course, it depends on which best fit the DML track links too.
