Hello,

I found these artist mannequins in the craft department of Wilkinsons yesterday lunchtime for a whopping £3.24!

I knew exactly what i was going to attempt - Iron Maidens Eddie The Trooper from the brilliant Derek Riggs artwork.

I made a 1/35 one years ago but have always fancied doing a large scale  version

Five minutes with a screwdriver resulted in a pile of dismembered limbs.

I found when doing the 1/35th version years ago that although it works in the drawing the pose of the left leg is not quite possible with a real body - so you will find that the pose is not entirely as the artwork but it is close

gallons of superglue and a bit of time got me to this stage.....

....after a bit more work with the superglue and some A+B putty to strenghten the joints Eddie now looks like this.

The left and right forearms have been sawn through as Eddie is almost a skeleton and his arms need to be more boney looking - they will be built up again later with putty

Now this will be interesting  Nice one Simon. Lots of work ahead of you ,but if you can pull it off it will result in an excellent looking figure .Of all the artwork done for Maiden overr the years ,I think that one has got to be my favourite . So I'll be glued to this one

Hi Chris - this is my fave as well with probably the piece of mind padded cell a close second. It will be a fair bit of work at around a foot tall, especially compared to the previous one i did (actually 1/32 not 35 as i said earlier - it was based on airfix multipose)

Hi Boots - thanks, i hope i can do it justice

Added a bit of miliput this evening to firm up all the joints before starting on it properly

Going to be keeping a good eye on this build, particularly as my friend is a close friend of the band members for many years since they were all at school together.
I know there have been a couple of Eddie kits on Ebay but i've missed out.

Fantastic!  In all the years I've been a Maiden fan (I have a copy of The Soundhouse Tapes tucked away somewhere) The Trooper is my favourite cover and one of my favourite songs.

The bugle sounds, the charge begins!
