(at least I'm not sat in a desert as well!)Morning Mike - thanks. I do know there are 9mm versions but then it's not really a 45 (although that would of course be far far easier to do as it is nearly 9mm already)
My original intention was to do a 45 so I am going to stick with it and see how far I get
Thanks for the link - some very useful pictures on there

Hi Craig, thanks for dropping in
Off we go.....
After some measuring up I determined that the magazine housing material needed to be half the kit thickness
So, after lots and lots of sanding I got this
Constant reference using the vernier calipers is essential to get the thicknesses right
with the back edges lined up you can see by the step the amount of thinning down required
Now need to do the same again on the other half - then i will look at cutting the parts up and letting in some extension pieces
I haven't checked the dimensions yet but the above picture shows some of the warping in the frame
there are three main areas of sinkage on each side of the frame that will need sorting
At least this time around I have a good idea of what to expect with this kit

Well you're off. I suppose one of the main difficulties is that as fast as you correct one problem that in turn can create other fit problems. It sort of seems like a constant juggling exercise
![]() It will turn out great in the end.

![]() At least this time I know I am starting with something that is wrong.
With the Remington I hadn't realised just how inaccurate it was which lead to me having more and more problems to resolve every time I corrected something
With this one I know not to trust any of the parts so it may (only may) lead to a slightly more consistent workflow without having to constantly go back and fix the knock on effects
We shall see.......

4725 forum posts 4238 photos | Hi Tim - thanks for following my ramblings yet again
Well this morning I continued sanding down the magazine halves
here they are thinned down from around 0.056" to 0.025"
Next I cut each side piece in two
Cut some 4mm strips of 30thou card to change the width
The whole lot was then glued together with excess amounts of plasweld
All the parts were put on a piece of glass to try and keep things as flat as possible while they dry out.
Once dry it will pop off the glass and i should be left with a nice flat surface on each half
