Close but no cigar! Richard. Even on high-budget war movies---Saving Ryan's Privates,ect..----but it's not so bad---better than no Tiger at all---and only bothers us detail oriented history buffs ' Simon---you are starting to get adventurous now with re-forming this entire kit. I could picture you totally making a new kit of this instead
Hey is that the Tam-Key above left?? Adam Edited By Adam Kuller on 11/05/2012 03:35:43 |

4735 forum posts 4245 photos | Hi Adam - with the amount of re-working involved it would probably have been easier to just scratchbuild the whole thing. Well spotted - yes that's the Tam-Key work in progress (I have now ordered a 10ml and also a MrHobby [from Taiwan]. I also have a Lifecolor
Pete - got enough trouble with 1:1 thanks, I think I'll stick with that for now

4735 forum posts 4245 photos | Done a bit more tonight Chopped the trigger area on the left frame Test fit of parts
Excellent barrel fit After considering how to go about this I decided to glue the two frame halves together and then try to sort out the details afterwards I glued the frames then assembled the slide, slide lock, thumb safety and grip safety to help line up the two halves then covered it all in clamps This has shown that the tolerence on the slide is about +/- 2mm so that will have to be addressed at some point Last thing was to glue and clamp the barrel - I will attempt to sort this out after it is dry

Looks like progress is being made albeit slowly. But I suppose that is to be expected considering the number of balls you are keeping in the air at one time Jim |

4735 forum posts 4245 photos | Evening all Removed the clamps and inspected the results I found that the frame was warped on two planes so the slide did not slide very well at all The half of the frame curved to the right and the front 40mm was also twisted around the main axis Half an hour with a kettle and set square saw it untwisted as far as possible The slide now slides Now it's roughly straight again I have filled the front end to get a better fit with the slide Needs to dry out again now

The warping must have been half expected given your experience with the styrene of this kit. You seem to have persuaded it to unwarp. I hope it stays that way. Anyway Simon another step forward. Jim |
