Hi all,

I have started my new armoured car, the Tamiya Sd.Kfz.232 8 Rad. I didnt realise that it was an older mould, but upon first inspection, it wasnt too bad, just the odd bit of flash to remove. The inclusion of a metal turned barrel and phot etched parts certainly makes it more interesting.

I also plan to animate the model by using the driver figure, so that will be a first for me. So, on with the shots.......

I found that the drive train went together with no effort, but the two body halves were a little warped. Nothing that some tape and a small clamp would not go amiss.

As ever, any constructive comments welcome!

Hi Jas,

lokking good so far mate.
I've just pulled one of these out of the stash myself for my second build in the begginers group build. Will be interesting to compare notes and see how we both fair.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for that! It looks good, the fit is typical Tamiya. There maybe some warpage in the main body of the kit, but nothing too serious. The old figure looks like some form of alien, the newer ones are better!

Drop me a line anytime and we will compare notes!

I had noticed that David R had started the same kit from the group beginners build. I reckon we should start a group Tamiya Sd.Kfz.232 8 build

Only joking, I haven't even finished my first kit. To have 3 running in parallel would be a bad idea, maybe...

Cheers
David

Hi David MK3,

having 3 builds running together is no big deal, it's when you get into double or even treble figures you need to panic!!

Hi Dave,

Lol, my house is up for sale so I have to keep it clean/uncluttered and the thought of kids running round the house when the estate agent does the viewings scares me.

Are you suggesting we start another group build

I am working from home today and found myself trawling Hannants website.

Cheers
David.

Dave MK3,

I don't think another group build is wise as all 3 of us are in the beginners group build but I would watch out as I don't do wingy or floaty things so I won't be doing those sections

I agree purely on the basis that my house is on the market and I don't want unfinished kits exposed to little brats to damage.

Guys,

I didnt realise that we were all doing the same kit! Doing three kits at once? Boy, I couldnt manage that even if I tried!!!

Your idea of a new sub-group is a good idea though, as we could all learn from eachother.

Jas,

Only you and David R are doing this kit to my knowledge.

It does look like a good little kit as it goes, I like the way the rotating turret supports the frame above.

Keep up the good work and loads of images. I could be tempted though as both the other kits are nearly finished and I fancy having a go at the HS method and creating a heavily rusted kit.

Cheers
David.
