Next build a Tamiya Jagdtiger with a RB barrell and a set of DOA paints. Will be using Simons excellent blog as reference, no charge I hope
Have built up the lower hull etc and added the rear plate, have made a start on the barrel and how to attach it Next decision is how to paint the link and run tracks, in place or not, I can only think of two options; try for the first time building up the wheels and tracks then removing complete as a unit and painting on the bench or building the lower hull, wheels and tracks etc and then painting in place with the upper hull added later. Whatever method i am not looking forward to painting the tracks and wheels together!
Have also bought a set of DOA paints from Track pad and will try for the first time.Still thinking about what colour scheme, in the paint set i have red primer so might use that
Comments always welcome bob |

5882 forum posts 904 photos | Hi Robert Got it bookmarked. Really interested to see what you decide to do about painting the tracks and how you get on. Should get some ideas from the experienced guys. The DOA paints are reckoned to be good. I have used them and they took a little getting used to but that was almost certainly my lack of ability rather than anything to do with the paint. Craig and others has used them very successfully. 153 forum posts 47 photos | Hello Bob, this looks good. I have always liked jagdpanzers in their various guises so will follow this. I have heard good things about DOA paints but not used them myself so will be interested to see how you get on with them. As far as the tracks go it may be easier paint wise to build them up and paint them before fitting. I am in the process of building Tamiyas JSU 152 and it has been a right pain to paint everything in situ. All the best, John

4254 forum posts 1780 photos | Hi Bob, I'll be sitting in the frontrow watching this one mate. Btw: It seems to me that Tamiya has made some locating holes on the backplate for the jack and block i assume? If so I think it's better to fill them up. For instance KT's which fought during the battle of the Bulge had them discarded because no jack could have the weight of the heavy KT, so it seems that they are for sure obsolete for the even heavier JT... Anywhoo, lookin' forward to this massive build! Cheers |

2459 forum posts 551 photos | Hi John
Have heard good things about DOA and thought what the hell give them a go, it can only go wrong
What i might do is to build up the wheels and tracks together, remove from the hull and then remove the wheels, paint the tracks and refit wheels again Hi Wouter
Should be fun, thanks for the info, I have some JT books so will have look at the back plate. Just checked the kit and a block and jack are there along with holes etc on the back plate regards Bob |
