Well, The halifax has hit a snag. The glazing for the turrets, nose and cockpit are...... how can I say it? RUBBISH! That'll do for now. So I have to look at getting some new vacformed parts. Therefore the build has gone on hold for a while.

In the meantime I raided the slush fund jar this morning knowing that I was going into Tunbridge Wells for an errand and I thought I would pop into E & M models on Camden Road. They don't have a huge range of kits but enough to have something of interest. Sure enough they had a couple of little treats. The new 1/72 BF109E and the Harrier GR7/9.

This is a series 1 kit so the painting and decal placement is on the back of the box....

The sharp eyed among you will notice the little Cartograph logo above the barcode.... This bodes well!

Open the box and you find three little sprues of their nice pale grey/blue styrene:

A two page instruction sheet with 14 steps to it. A nice simple build by the look of it.

Typical with todays politically correct marketing we have a comprehensive decal sheet except for one thing... The two swastikas for the tail fin. Booo!

So off we go on a lightning fast build.

As I have a JU88 on the go at the mo I decided to swallow the pill and make my own. So there we go drawing them out on the ol' CAD, went to print them and my printer can't print onto decal paper! GRRRRRRR!

I then decided to order some from the Fantasy printshop and tghey are on there way. Lots of little crosses coming. Yeay!

Best of luck with this, it'll be interesting to see how well it goes together.

Here we go.

Inbetween doing the 110 for the guv'nor I have been plugging away at this little thing:

p1110545.jpg

It went together so fast and the paint went on so fast thjat I didn't really get a chance to take any interim photos.

Here's a couple more of where we are:

p1110546.jpg

p1110547.jpg

On the last picture, I hope that you can see the tiny, tiny stencil decals. For those of you who have built the 1/48th version, what you get here is the entire decal sheet, shrunk down to 1/72! The only problem is that the drawing on the box only shows the key insignia and you have to use your general knowledge and other references to install the 1001 other little sticky bits.

Most of the next bit will be adding the last little doohickeys and to weather her down a little.

TTFN.

Shaun
