Hopefully one learn something from every project...

Hi Krister, like how you painted the fig, very nice fleshtones and love that shirt thumbs up. The trousers look ok, though something doesn't seem right...not sure though, maybe it's because the edges on the color 'dots' are too rounded or so, I'd say to make them sharper.

I had a go at the splinter camo once using Mike McLaughlins excellent article in MilMod mag. I think you should have a look at that ^^

Here's how mine turned out:

I think you need more brown and green color as well. Anyway, you're doin' a great job, hope you don't mind me pointing out some things embarrassed

Cheers

Quite nice, Krister, especially his features ! Top job thumbs up

I'd say seal the trousers and have a go at the "rain", as that should pull it all together....

Hi Wouter, that's not the "splinter" pattern, it's the "tan water" pattern, minus the "rain".... a bit rarer...

Have a go at it Krister, should be interesting if not maddening...angry 2

Cheers,

Ian

PS: I just remembered that I still have an original 1940 "splinter" pattern zeltbahn should anyone need to match colors.... ( oooh, I'd better not start that up again.... )crook

I think your figure came out just great. Agree with guys... seal the paint with flat clear then do streaks if you can.

Hi!

Johnny: Thanks for looking and for your nice comments.

Wouter: No, I dont mind at all. Honest constructive critisim is the best way

to look at ones work with a pair of fresh eyes. And you are right, it doesn´t look quite right,

maybe it is the missing rainmarks? Some more camodots? Regarding the colors I think they

are ok. If you search the net you can find pictures of both the darker ones that you

have used and the paler ones that I have used. Anyway, if they are wrong I have

to blame Mr Oliver Kovacs, because I have used the colors that he is using in his

dvd... wink

Ian: Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I will have a go at the rainmarks. I just have

to practise some more at my Tamiya guineapig figures smiley.

Tim: Always nice to read your kind remarks.

Andy: Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, hopefully the rainmarks will tie the trousers

together.

Regarding the rainmarks... I have seen them going both vertical and horizontal, mostly

vertical. Could it be either? Because it is easier to paint them horizontal, I think...

Regards,

Krister

Hi Krister,

I'd go vertical, simply for aesthetics.... plus I really can't recall seeing any with a horizontal orientation. Perhaps in later issues of the pattern. Once the "rain" is in I would tone the overall color down a wee bit... He's nearly there ! thumbs up

Cheers !

Ian

Hi Krister,

Apart from the trousers the figure is superbstarstarstarstarstar
I think the problem is the pattern and the colour used for the seams is too dark. The splinter pattern had very, very few parallel lines and there were no curves in the pattern. I'll try to find the photo which I used to illustrate the splinter pattern and post it, hopefully tomorrow... The colours are ok, but when you use such pale colours, I think it needs the rain drops. The rain drops could indeed go horizontal or vertical, but the horizontal is much rarer than vertical, bear in mind that there were areas of the pattern that had no rain drops.
I really think with a couple of modifications to the trousers, it will look stunningthumbs up
I hope this helpsteeth 2

Regards
Mike
