Hi all.

As some of you may know the family and i went up on Thursday to the Raf Museum and while we were talking a walk up to Hannants afterwards i noticed this vehicle covered up by a tarpaulin in the museum car park so i took a picture.

I wasn't sure what it is but i am guessing by the shape that it may be some sort of CMP truck.

whats it.

Regards

Ian

Apart from the bullbar being wider and bolted to the outside rather than inside of the bumper, it looks very much like Libor's F15 CMP Ian.

The main difference between Ford and Chevy CMP was the way the brush guard was attached to the bumper, with Ford mounting them behind the bumper, so this would make the one under the tarp a Chevy.

With a bridging sign of 3 it is probably a C8.

Thanks Malcolm.

You're obviously a bit of a whizz with these wheelie beasts so maybe you can answer me this...
Which type of British units would have used a CMP C15TA like Libor's producing? I need an excuse to buy one. wink 2

Ken,

Pictures of these in British service are like rocking horse poop, a bit thin on the ground.

Plenty of them in Canadian , Dutch and Malayan police in the 50`s.

The Royal Navy had some, used by 30th Naval Assault Unit charged with recovering German Naval technology.

GHQ Liaison Regt, or Phantom used them, (that`s how i`d like to do one), probably the Wireless version which was probably used by the Royal Signals units.

As it was an APC it is possible that some Infantry Regts used them too but like i said finding picture proof isn`t easy.

A lot are believed to have stayed in the recieving Depots which is likely where some of the French, Dutch and Malayan examples came from.

Hope that helps as i can`t find 100% proof of these comments.

Malc.

Thanks Malcolm.
I saw elsewhere that we ordered some 3000 of these, so I wonder if I could get away with marking one as an Infantry Brigade HQ vehicle. (There's an HQ 159 Inf Bde sized hole in my 11 Armd Div collection needs filling.) wink 2

Hmm...

Never say never, Ken, vehicles weren`t always aquired the legal way through proper channels in war time
