Exhibitors list

Euro Militaire is almost with us and will be held over the weekend of 22nd – 23rd September at its usual venue of the Leas Cliff in Folkestone, Kent. The world famous Euro Militaire Competitions are a major feature of the show and are held in the Channel Suite – a well lit and air conditioned glass fronted extension with view of the English Channel – and most likely 'Dave' the bottlenose Dolphin who has made this stretch of the south coast his home.

Friday is reserved as the ‘set up’ day for traders and clubs and the Show opens the following Saturday morning at 10am and closes at 6pm. On Sunday, the doors open at 10am once again - until the Show closes at approximately 5pm. Folkestone’s hotels and restaurants can get busy over the weekend and it’s difficult to avoid small, and large gatherings and meetings of show attendees enjoying a drink or a meal out with friends.

Advance tickets are now on sale and will be up to the 17th September where you can make savings:

Airbrush Courses Cancelled

The Airbrush Company Ltd and Magicalia Publishing Ltd apologise that they have decided to cancel the 'Aibrush Mini-classes' at the forthcoming Euro Militaire due to insufficient bookings.

There will still be live demonstrations, and the opportunity to try airbrushes and pick up hints and tips from airbrush 'experts', on the Cammett stand, on the East balcony in the main hall.

The full one-day classes in West Sussex are still popular and you can enquire at the Cammett Ltd stand about booking a Beginners class, Advanced class or Figure Airbrushing class.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by the cancellation of the mini-classes at the event.

2006 Euromilitaire 'Best In Show',

The competitions open at 10am on the Saturday and each single entry costs £2 and is registered by the modeller at the entrance to the Channel Suite, but we regret that no advance registration or postal entries are possible at Euro Militaire. You can enter by proxy, however, and if you intend sending a model for the competition with another party please read the ‘IMPORTANT NOTICE’ under CONDITIONS at the end of this feature.

Competition entrants and show visitors should please note that the Competition Room in the Channel Suite closes at 3pm on the Saturday so that the final judging of entries may take place.

The models must stay in the competition for the two days on public display. After entering the hall anyone wishing to enter a model should make their way to the lower level and obtain cards from the registrar before putting their models onto the purpose built competition display stands.

There are now 24 competition classes and they were revised for last year’s Euro Militaire. Throughout the history of the show the organizers have taken advice and comments on board from modellers who have entered the competitions and added or revised competition classes and any criteria involved.

The competition is open to all and the models in each class are judged to five ‘standards’ of Gold, Silver, Bronze, Highly Commended and Commended. Euro Militaire does not operate a ‘first past the post’ policy and if four entries in a single class are ‘gold standard’ then they are given gold awards, and so on down to Commended. The coveted Euro Militaire Best of Show award is selected from all the gold awards made and is announced at the opening of the show on the Sunday morning.

Best of Show and Gold award winners are presented with their awards in the main hall on the Sunday beginning around 4pm. Winners of Silver, Bronze, Highly Commended and Commended awards can collect them in the Competition Room shortly after the main hall awards ceremony ends.

DEFINITIONS

'PAINTED' - in the Class title means it is a painting class. Improvements, conversions and scratch built work are allowed, but WILL NOT be taken into account

'SCRATCH BUILT/ CONVERTED’ - Scratch built means original work that has every part created by the competitor. Converted means work carried out to change a commercially available product so substantially that it is different in concept to the original. In figure classes the term includes the use of commercial heads, body parts and accessories (a ‘composite’ figure) provided the majority of the work apparent in the finished piece is still that of the competitor and is not a 'kit'.

A vehicle model is deemed ‘converted’ if a significant portion of it has been rebuilt to change it to another type, mark, version, etc., or if extensive corrections have been made using plastic, photo-etched brass, resin or white metal parts to replace kit parts. Particular credit will be given by the judges to the extent and difficulty of scratch building and original work, and competitors are advised to submit any notes and illustrations on work they have carried out, where possible with pre-paint finish photographs.

EVIDENCE - The competitor is urged to demonstrate work content by submitting legible notes (in English) and/or photographs, to ensure that the extent of conversion or scratch building is taken into account.

MOUNTED - includes a related rider standing with his mount. ‘Mount’ includes any animal normally ridden by a soldier/warrior, e.g. horse, camel, elephant, mule, etc.

MILITARY VEHICLES - includes Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs), soft-skinned military vehicles and artillery.

MILITARY - the armed forces and auxiliary formations of any country or period, including tribal warriors, Native Americans, Samurai, etc.

CIVILIAN - the non-military peoples of any country or period. Despite ‘bearing arms’ civilians includes, pirates, western gunfighters/ cowboys, police, gladiators, etc. Civilian figures are allowed in:
1. All flat figure classes.
2. Classes 20, 21, and 22
3. Military dioramas and vignettes provided they are accessories or incidental to the principal military content of the piece.

FIGURE - a complete human military figure (except where busts or where civilian figures are specified or allowed) with or without associated animal
BUST - a sculpture of the upper part of the human body, including head, neck, and shoulders
FLAT - a casting in bas-relief derived from an engraved mould or sculptured master, and specifically excluding work on a plain or wholly flat ground (e.g. art paintings and miniatures).
