Stryker in detail Publisher: WWP (wings & Wheels Publications) Ref.#. no.17 Scale: N/A Price: Unknown IntroductionBoy! I was in for a treat, when I got this book in the mail. Just by looking at the front cover I was already pumped up. I was expecting pictures but not this many. Color pictures galore in all its glory. Nothing had prepared me for this book. All I can say is hang in there, you’re about to be taken for a ride through a modern day museum of stryker variants. | |
ContentsThe book is split up into 11 sections. They are as follows: · M1126 Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle pages 8 – 35 · M1126 ICV with MK19 Grenade Launcher pages 36 – 45 · M1127 Stryker Reconnaissance Vehicle pages 46 – 69 · M1130 Stryker Command Vehicle pages 70 -81 · M1130 Stryker Command Vehicle Tactical Air Control Party pages 82 – 95 · M1132 Stryker Engineer Squad Vehicle pages 96 – 125 · M1132 Stryker ESV Light Weight Mine Roller pages 96 – 105 · M1132 Stryker ESV with Mine Plow pages 106 – 113 · M1132 Stryker ESV with Straight Obstacle Blade pages 114 – 121 · Chassis Details pages 126 – 129 · Engine Details pages 130 – 132 As you can see, there are quite many sections due to the many variations or combination that these variants provide; although, they all stem from the same vehicle. Each section provides a moderate amount of information relevant to that particular vehicle or object on display. All pictures are well detailed and clear, which is one of the reasons for buying this book. All angles are taken into account, which is a huge plus for modelers and enthusiast alike. One aspect of this book that everyone will like is the inclusion of Strykers with the slat armor. There are many pictures provided. I counted about 25 pages, some with up-close pictures from all angles, including how they are attached to the hull. This is definitely something that would be advantageous to modelers. Not only slat armor is aplenty and detailed but mostly all areas of the hull, as well as, interiors shots are included in this book. One thing that got me really excited was the ESV variants. I have plans to build this variant and this book was an absolute Godsend! They are enough detail pictures to use as reference thus making my search for reference completed. This was one of the hardest to find and now my search is over. Another photo topic I’m glad they included is the engine and its compartments. There are only two pages, with for pictures per page, dedicated to this. It still doesn’t distract from the fact they are clear and detailed, which personally provides adequate information to the reader. Even up-close photos of the under carriage is included. Again, not many photos but sufficient. The ability of the photographer to take as many photos from different angles of the many various Strykers is a testament that he knows exactly what the modeler wants to see. This, I appreciate immensely. There are also descriptive explanations as well as vehicle data contents of certain variants that will be of some use to some modelers. I have never purchased a WWP book before. What a great first buy. I’m a modern armor fan and this has definitely given my money’s worth. ConclusionWith the release of Trumpeter and soon-to-be AFV Club and Dragon Stryker kits, this is almost a must for all who buy the Stryker kits. Those who want an accurate representation of a Stryker will do no wrong with the purchase of this book. I give this book a clear 10 for all Stryker fans. Yes, it is a musthave publication even if you’re not a modeler but an enthusiast of the military vehicle arsenal. It will do justice among your collection of many military books. WWP has provided something many will cherish for a long time to come. Go buy it! |
