Challenger I at Tankfest 2010

A weekend blessed with the hot summer weather that we all like, and Tankfest 2010 didn't disappoint.  Sadly the Tiger 131 was not running this year, that is in need of money and work on the engine to keep it running.  it was on static show though, in a tent along with Rommel's Horsch, an unusual visitor.  Another visitor was a running Jagdpanther, and running in the arena unlike a few years ago when heavy rain caused gremlins to creep in.  The British Army was there with some current in-service equipment, while the usual groups of re-enactors occupied the Living History areas.  Among them, some were dressed as a mix of generals, so odd to see Rommel, McArthur, Patton and Montgomery all chatting happily together and posing for photos.  I have to say they all looked very good too.   My thanks to the owner of the Doge Command car who enabled us to get Patton in the back for a photo or two

As for the football the same weekend, best not to say any more, along with the Challenger I crew who turned the turret when up on the central mound in the arena....and promptly took out the metal flagpole having misjudged the length of the gun barrel in relation to their position with the flagpole....

Here are some photos, and more will be in the magazine in a future issue I hope.  This is a fair selection of what ran round the arena, hope you find them useful. Thanks to the team at the Tank Museum for another great show.
