...another new 1/35 arrival from Tasca
The latest kit from Tasca to arrive for sale in the UK is this, the 1/35 Sherman III, with markings for a tank of either the 24 Lancers or the Staffordshire Yeomanry, in Normandy in 1944. No big gun or fancy variant, this is a basic 75mm armed gun tank, one which was common in British Armoured units in 1944. Sadly, but true, many of them are seen pictured not only in action, but also knocked out in the battle such as Goodwood and Epsom, when unsuccessful breakout attempts meant Sherman hulks were a common sight in the Normandy countryside.
They had previously released one set in the North African theme, but this time with the North West Europe campaign in mind. There is a fair bit to the kit, and indeed the suspension uses a sheet of rubber like compound to be cut up and used within the suspension units. Detail on the plastic moudlings is clean and crisp, and the detail very neatly done. The colour scheme is set for a plain Olive Drab finish on either one of the two marking options, but space to add stowage, crew etc.. The album below will show you pictures of all the parts, and there is a fair bit o do with this assembly work, but all will go together pretty well I'd expect.
The track is in 2 pieces, 2 for each side, and features the metal cleat track links for this one, actually one of my favourites from a visual point of view. Being a banded style, some will like it, some might prefer individual links. I like the way they mould it in a dark reddy-brown track colour in the first place.
This one is already available now in the UK, and is available via Models for Sale and their link below.
