...the new Dragon kit contents
This is not the first time I've used the poster for a heading, but this time you can find parts photos at the bottom of the page in an album. This latest 1/350 kit from Dragon is here and it is my next build project. Time to actually do a good size ship, compelte with etched detail parts and some superb levels of detail included straight out of the box. I have been very lucky to see one of the early copies of the new model, and it jumps out at you as superb. Even the packaging of the to main hull parts (it can be full hull or waterline) is good, so I illustrated it in the album. What strikes me is the sheer volume of secondary armament there was on the ship by 1943, it simply bristles with guns. Some very tiny bits of etch brass to be fitted in here. even the small ships boats have etch brass 'wheels' !
I've tried to give you an idea of the level of detail there is in this one amidst the photos. Apparently, Dragon's designers started by doing the CAD drawings of it full size, drawn 1:1 then scaled down from there. It shows frankly, as the detail is there throughout. As I understand it, we are going to be running a special offer on this in the magazine when the finialised kits get here, so do look out for it. I now need to start building this one, so I'll let you know how I get on. The little e-boat I built recently, in the same scale, is about to get a 'bigger brother'.
