...the modern British Army Engineer Vehicle
Prompted by the start of a blog by member Dick Francis with his scratchbuilding work on the modern British Army Trojan engineer vehicle, I had a look through for reference photos and details that I had of the new Trojan, and these are presented here. A couple are from an example at Tankfest in 2010, and a small number of another at the Defence Academy at Shrivenham. The bulk of the photos though show the example displayed at Tankfest 2009, which was when I got the chance to climb on and get the upper surface pictures as well. One point of detail I liked was the tarpaulin spread over the engine deck, underneath the bundle of pipes that make up the fascine, and prevent rain collecting and dripping down into the engine grills. It's a huge machine, and capable of a fair turn of speed for something this size as well. It really is a very impressive bit of kit to see in motion.
The detail on the one at Shrivenham, which I assume was one used for testing, shows very well worn road-wheel tyres, and as it lacks the mine plough, you get a better view of the detail on the front bow plate.
So for Dick, I hope these help and good luck with what will be a very impressive bit of scratchbuilding work.
