Afrika Korps troopers
 
Beyond the world of models that most of us are caught up in, there is another band of enthusiasts who enjoy full size re-enactment.  If you go to shows like Beltring and Tankfest (where these re-enactors are), you will find enthusiasts dressed in period uniforms and equipment for their areas of interest.  In this instance we have 2 slight variations for Afrika Korps uniforms, and in this case Luftwaffe paratroops (Falschirmjager).
 
Seeing these are a great reference for figure painters in particular, as you get to see the hang of clothing, along with shadows and highlights, plus the contrast in the webbing and personal equiment they are wearing, the weapons they may be carrying.  In this case one wears a helmet, and the other a field cap.  My thanks to both these enthusiasts for duly turning round for me in order to take these shots.  It helps that most are very careful to get badges and equipment all appropriate for th eperiod they recreate.
