Dragon Models 1/72 LRDG Patrol Car - box art

This is one of the small scale releases from Dragon that I was really looking forward to, their 1/72 LRDG Patrol Car, which is basically a Chevrolet truck like the old large scale one from Tamiya, and the 1/76 example by Matchbox (now Revell).  Once again I suspect it is licencing issues that they call this just a Patrol Car rather than the Chevrolet truck it actually represents.   All on 2 sprues of grey plastic, the detail is beautifully done and this should assemble very nicely.

If there is anything I would have liked to see it would be the inclusion of more stowage, as these were always pictured loaded to the gunnels with kit for their long patrols.  Still, that leaves an open playing field for aftermarket producers such as Black Dog to do a resin stowage set for it.  The kit itself looks excellent, and is 1/72 for those who particularly want to keep to this constant scale.

Transfers include single digits if you want to make up your own chosen ID number, but personally I find these too small to deal with these days, and like to see they have included a 'complete' serial number as well.  The other thing I especially liked is the second colour scheme they have suggested in the instructions.  it offers something quite different, and eye catching, to the plain pale sand colour we usually see on these models.

Our thanks to Dragon Models for the news.
