Battlegroup Rule Book

Core rules for tabletop wargaming WW2 by Warwick Kinrade

First published in 2012, this is a 2016 reprint of the main Battlegroup WW2 rules system and as such is obviously pitched at the dedicated 15 and 20mm wargamer. This is a high-quality A4-sized hardback printed on lovely paper which for someone who has not handled such rule books before, came as something of a surprise.

Even if you are not a wargamer, the distraction of a number of period images from world class archives makes this a superb piece of work. Obviously the book is dominated by rules which extend from page 11 to 63 followed by a chapter called ‘Into Battle’ and another called ‘Canada’s Crucible’. The latter is a new extra campaign based on the Battle of Norrey-en-Bessin, Normandy which took place between June 8 and 11, 1944 between the Canadian 3rd Infantry and the 12th SS Panzer Division.

Superbly illustrated throughout with images of the figures and maps and to the rear there are five pages of detachable reference sheets with battle rating counter and vehicle datacards etc.

A brilliant book which has been specifically reprinted because the sister Kursk and mini rulebooks have sold out – highly recommended. Thanks very much to Piers Brand at The Plastic Soldier Company for supplying this copy to Military Modelling.
