Eduard 1/72 Avia B.534 early series

Designed by František Novotný, the Avia B-534 family of biplane fighters first entered service with the Czechoslovakian Air Force in 1935. The fighter was on a par with its contemporises with regard to performance and firepower but like so many biplanes of this period was found to be obsolete at the beginning of the Second World War. That said the B-534 remained in operational service with the Bulgarian and Slovak State Air Forces until late 1944.

This kit by Eduard is a 2017 rebox with a difference, as this is a ‘Dual Combo’ Profipack edition which means you actually get two aircraft. Referred to as the ‘early series’, inside you will find that you have more than enough components to build a B-534 Series I and Series II, the main difference between the two being a pair of vz.30 machine guns installed in the Series I forward fuselage and a quartet in the Series II. The Profipack aspect gives you two PE sheets, a large number of masks and a superb array of decals which give you the option of at least eight different unit markings. The two builds have been cleverly combined within the easy to follow instruction booklet and you should not have too much trouble distinguishing the Series from the Series II.

An ideal kit for the current ‘Biplane Group Build’ at or a more unusual addition to your inter-war fighter collection. Great value for money; two for the price of one kit! Thanks very much to Eduard for our review sample.
