...new Militaria title from Histoire et Collections
Title: German Combat Knives, 1914-1945
Author: Christian Mery
Publisher: Histoire and Collections
Another new soft cover book from Histoire and Collections in their Militaria series. Covering both WW1 and WW2 I was once again surprisedd by the sheer variety of kives used by combat troops. Not just the service issue ones, but the number of privately purchased ones which were popular, especially in WW1. Huntiers knives with bones handles, some even using a stag's foot! The bookk is heavily illustrated throughout with photos of preserved examples, which show clearly both the knife and the scabbard in most cases. They are accompanied by many period photos as soldiers have always liked a portrait shot for the family and smart uniforms plus their equipment are shown off. Many are engraved, on the blade, on the handle or both in some cases.Baynet fittings on some and specialist knives such as those issued to the Falschirmjager are all featured.
Good for the Militaria collector and modeller alike.
