Airfix 1/72 Dogfight Double - Falklands War Sea Harrier and Skyhawk

I don't know about you, but I remember making the early 'Dogfight Doubles' from Airfix back in the 1960s.  Now they have released a new one, which also includes an all new version of the A4 Skyhawk.  There is a Sea Harrier FRS1, in the pale grey scheme used during the Falklands conflict, and then a camouflaged Argentinian Skyhawk.  The all new Skyhawk is a huge improvement over their old, original version of this little jet, and very much up to their current standards.  For both aircraft, nice to see the instrument panels included for the cockpits which are so much better detailed than the old kits of the 1960s.

Plenty of underwing stores on both aircraft,  The Sea Harrier has a choice for the positions of the bleed slots on the air intakes and the four directional jet pipes are to be fixed rather than workable as they were in those original old Airfix Harrier kits.  Sidewinders and drop tanks, along with 30mm Aden canon pods to go underneath.  For the Skyhawk, optional positions for both leading edge slats and airbrakes, while long range tanks plus a bomb on the centreline.  the Skyhawk also has internal parts to give the look of the air intakes and the jet exhaust, rather than just an empty hole into the hollow fuselage.  Colour guides are included for both aircraft to help with all the transfers.

As a 'Dogfight Double' it also includes a display stand so the two models can be displayed in flying pose, as it illustrate on the back of the box.  Also, this one is released as part of their Falklands 30th Anniversary kits, and includes small pots of the appropriate colours of acrylic paints, plus a couple of brushes and a tube of glue, so everything you need for a basic model supplied in the box so clearly a good idea for a present to youngsters to help encourage them to have a go.  The Sea Harrier is nice and the new Skyhawk is also good to see.

Our thanks to Airfix for our example.
