Dragon 1/72 Sdkfz 260

The latest small scale release to arrive from Dragon is this one, the Sdkfz 260.  Another variation on the small 4-wheel armoured car chassis we have seen before in the 222 and the 223, this time there is only one kit in the box, rather than the two in both previous releases.  The main sprues are the same as used before, so there are a few unused parts to add to your spares box.  A new sprue provides the parts needed for this light radio car, which had no turret or ready armament.  The turret ring is roofed over by a full mesh screen, which unusually for Dragon in recent times is not done in etch brass, but is solid moulded plastic.  I can only assume this was a choice because there is no interior to be seen inside it.  Two options are suggested for colours and markings, with a Panzer Grey option or a 3-colour sand scheme, though dated on the sheet as from 1942, the year before the 3 colour scheme came into use.  I would 'never say never' but I suspect this could be an error.  The licence plates given in the transfers are plain white and give individual letters and number to build up you chosen registration rather than giving a fully printed one.  Some will like this but personally I find these individual characters so small in 1/72 that I personally prefer complete pre-printed full licence plate.  Overall though a nice little kit that builds up into a quite different variant of these small armoured cars and therefore very welcome indeed.

Our thanks to Dragon Models for the news.
