TAKOM 1/35 FV432 Mk.3 Bulldog

Of the 3,000 plus FV432s built for the British Army since 1962, over 1,500 of them remain in service and to extend their service life 1,000 of these have been upgraded in a contract worth £85 million by BAE Systems. Upgrades include a new Rolls-Royce B60 engine, new brakes and specifically for service in Afghanistan and Iraq, air-conditioning, reactive armour and IED jammers have been installed. If it had not been for the latest spate of Middle Eastern conflicts the FV432 would have been long retired but is now extended to 2025.

Another new tool for 2017 from TAKOM, this is a great addition to their rapidly growing armour range. Unlike the previous FV432 produced by TAKOM this ‘Bulldog’ version does not have an interior but this is made up for by the external detailing which changes the profile of this iconic APC. A typically comprehensive kit, the box is filled with ten sprues, a pair of hull halves, clear parts, a PE sheet, a nice decal sheet and a useful track jig. A 33-stage build, this is a ‘2 in 1’ which presumable refers to the different weapon mounts available. The decals and colour guides from the box revolve around vehicles of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards Reconnaissance Platoon during Operation Telic in early 2008. Perfect for fans of ‘modern’ armour!
