Images of War Series

The Panzer IV and Armoured Warfare and the Waffen-SS by Anthony Tucker-Jones

Continuing the popular Images at War series, the first here is a Panzer IV ‘Special’ thanks to the addition of 15 colour plates in the centre illustrated by David Lee Hemingway. Subtitled ‘Hitler’s Rock’, this book contains ten chapters well-illustrated with 150 rare wartime photographs all of which are sourced by the author. As well as the standard good captions with each image, there are large sections of technical and historical text than usual and this makes the book all the more appealing.

Our second IOW series book looks at Armoured Warfare and the Waffen-SS in 1944 and 1945 and again contains 150 rare photographs all sourced by the author. The books eight chapters follows the Waffen-SS at Cherkassy, the Ardennes, Normandy, Warsaw and Arnhem to name a few. Tiger and Panther tanks feature heavily but so does the infantry soldier, his weapons and uniforms all of which will prove useful for reference. The images presented of captured paras at Arnhem are particularly poignant.
