...a new quarterly magazine from AK Interactive

Weathering Magazine is the new quarterly publication from AK Interactive, and as hinted at a little earlier, their first issue covers the whole subject of 'Rust Effects'. Printed on high quality paper this is very much a Glossy magazine in many senses of that phrase. Produced by Mig Jimenez and AK Interactive, they have used the well known modeller and magazine editor John Murphy to edit the magazine for them and he has done a very good job of it, including contributions of a couple of his own pieces.
Individual articles cover a great variety of techniques, effects and subjects, from a weather beaten tank, to a railway wagon, a sci-fi robot rusting in the sand of some distant planet, a corroding VW Beetle and even rust effects on ships. They feature a number of different contributors in addition to John and Mig himself, and all show some different styles and effects that can be achieved. It finishes with a well balanced article on all the different rust effect products from a variety of manufacturers, though as it is produced by AK Interactive, clearly you’d expect their products to be ideal. Amidst all these excellent ideas all devoted to different rust techniques most modellers will get some great ideas from this one.
Finally I should mention they have introduced a ‘character’ within the magazine Called ‘Akatsiya’ who adds some glamour to a number of pages. Mig mentions this in his introduction to the magazine, suggesting they wanted to add something to the magazine and make it a little different and that their choice was John Murphy in his underwear or Akatsiya. I think it fair to say, with apologies to John, that they made the right choice. As for what she looks like, I can only reccomend you have a look at this issue yourselves, I am confident you will enjoy it for all the content.
My thanks to AK Interactive, who kindly provided our example
