WWII Ordnance Illustrated

This is one of two issues for this quarterly magazine published by Armor Plate Press in the USA which I have now had a look at.  Issue VI which was originally published in the Fall (Autumn) of 2010 is still available, and has a number of detailed articles which cover in detail some very interesting bits of kit.  In this issue they look at US Flamethrowers, and include mention of one privately owned today!  Other articles cover the use of the little remote controlled Goliath tracked demolition vehicle, which had little success but was quite widely deployed.  Then for anyone who has built the Resicast example, a feature on the real thing of the Quad Maxim mounting as used by the Russian Army in WW2, often seen mounted in the backs of Zis and Gaz trucks.

While I have visited some battlefields in Europe, this has an article from a visit to Guadelcanal in the Pacific, what can be found in some museum collections, and also mention of what can still be found laying in the jungle of the island.  Finally, an article on the Japanese Model 89 Grenade launcher, a fitting for their rifles.  Some authoritative text and a fine selection of archive photos to go with them.  Well recommended
