Which God of War is the Best?
As one of the most epic and beloved video game series of all time, God of War has captivated gamers with its intense action, captivating mythological storytelling, and captivating characters. With numerous spin-offs and reboots, the franchise has seen a plethora of talented gods take center stage, each with their own set of skills and strengths.
Kratos: The Original God of War
The first and arguably the most iconic God of War is Kratos, the angry and vengeful deity who sought to take vengeance on the gods themselves after the death of his wife and child (cough spoilers!) in the original God of War trilogy. With his double-chained Blades and Levædan’s Fury Rage Mode, Kratos decimated the gods and mythical creatures of ancient Greece like a force of nature, earning his reputation as the greatest warrior in God of War history (at least, according to himself).
Hildr: The Cunning Heiress
But even Kratos’ unparalleled battlefield prowess can’t compare to Hildr, the shrewd and calculating eldest daughter of the Norse giant, Fafnir. Her incredible range and versatility allow her to outmaneuver and outwit her adversaries, as seen in God of War (2018), while her unique magic set offers a distinct flair to her combat.
Key Stats and Powers
| God | Weapons | Abilities | Weak Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kratos | Chain Blades, Leviathan Ax | Rage Mode, Runic Attacks | Dependence on Rage mode, vulnerability to certain opponents |
| Hildr | Blades, Amul | Elemental Infusion, Shadow Stare | Vulnerability to light-based attacks |
Athena: The Goddess of Wisdom
As the daughter of Zeus and the patron saint of wisdom, courage, and warfare, Athena represents intellect, strategy, and athleticism. Her unique boomerang shield absorbs and deflects projectiles and attacks, while her incredible agility renders her nearly untouchable in close combat. Sadly, her overcautious nature held her back from being recognized as a top-tier God of War fighter.
Baldur: The Radiant Aesir
Last, but certainly not least, is Baldur, the god of lighting and purity. Blazing fast and with inhuman strength, he hurls blinding, radiant blasts to ignite his enemies, faster than the human eye can track. Wielding Ares‘ own spear, Hephaestus, or his own radiant blades Baldur’s quick reflexes allow for devastating parries and riposte attacks.
