Trijicon VCOG Rifle Scope Review
The Trijicon VCOG (Variable Combat Optical Gunsight) is a highly regarded riflescope designed for close quarter battle (CQB) and long distance marksmanship. I had the opportunity to test this product, and I must say that it’s an exceptional piece of optics.
Design and Build
The VCOG has a solid and durable build, thanks to its forged aircraft-grade 7075-T6 aluminum housing. This robust construction ensures that the scope can withstand harsh environments and heavy use. The adjustable magnification lens is easy to use, and the optical zoom is smooth and precise.
Optics
The Trijicon VCOG features multi-coated lenses that provide superior clarity and light-gathering capabilities with zero distortion. This results in a sharp and clear image, even in low-light conditions. The first focal plane reticle is designed for precision accuracy, allowing the user to quickly and accurately apply the correct hold at any magnification.
Reticle and Illumination
The red MOA Segmented Circle/Crosshair Reticle is a great feature, as it allows for precise target acquisition and precise holdover calculations. The reticle is illuminated, with 11 user-selectable brightness settings, 2 night vision settings, 8 day settings, and 1 super-bright setting. This provides a wide range of options for adjusting the reticle brightness in various conditions.
Mount and Elevation
The Quick Release Mount with Trijicon Q-LOC Technology is a great addition, as it allows for quick and easy mounting to any rail system without the need for conventional ring mounts.
Battery Life and Power Source
The scope is powered by a single AA battery, which provides a remarkable 633 hours of battery life at setting 6. This makes it suitable for extended use in the field.
