What are the Ranks of Navy SEALs?
The Navy SEALs, or Sea, Air, and Land teams, are one of the most elite fighting forces in the world, trained to conduct a variety of special operations missions, from reconnaissance to direct action. Composed of both active and reserve personnel, the SEALs are among the most feared and respected units in the US military. So, what are the ranks of Navy SEALs?
Royal Ranks and Insignia
Like the rest of the US Navy, the SEALs use the same rank structure and insignia as other Navy commands. However, Seals have earned the distinction of having two special titles that are recognized and respected across the globe: Ensigns and Full Bivers (more on that later). Here’s a brief overview of the ranks held by Navy SEALs:

| ENSIGN | The lowest officer rank, ENS is held by Navy SEAL Officers fresh from officer candidate school |
| 2ND Lieutenant (2ND LT) | Junior Officer Rank held by SEAL officers who have served at least one deployment |
| Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) | A Mid-Level Officer rank, SEAL LTJG have command authority and responsibilities |
| LT Lieutenant | High-Level Officer Rank, Seal LT Officers often hold commanding officer or leadership positions |
| COMMANDER | A Senior Officer Rank, Commander is usually a higher ranking officer position in charge of a division |
Operational Ranks and Billets
These are unique titles and ranks specific to Navy SEAL Teams. There are two full levels of responsibility, marked as OPERATIONS, OFFICERS or OPERATIONS, SNAKES, meaning Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (EN). As such, ranks held within each team (Platoons, Crews) or Units (EQUIPMENT PLT / SUPPLY EQPL) hold specific significance, influencing the leadership of various parts of your Navy Command operations, tactics and strategies: the hierarchy you’ll create!
