Who Needs to Pack?
Not all new recruits need to pack items from the list. ** Fresh recruits, usually referred to as "Deltas," who have a certain amount of space available due to the small quantity of clothing they originally arrive with Do Not need to pack any extra items beyond what they received at In-Processing. Don’t worry; the Navy provides basic toiletries and initial uniforms for Delta recruits!
What You Can Pack:
Once you’re done with Delta phase, it’s a good idea to pack carefully and thoughtfully. Since space is limited, bring only the essentials. Refer to the official Navy manual, but don’t overpack!
Clothing & Footwear:
- T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts for colder weeks
- Lightweight, insulating, and warm garments for colder days
- Comfortable pants and short-sleeved shirts
- Socks and undies
- Additional underwear for hygienic reasons!
- Soft, lightweight pillows and blankets for better comfort (approved sizes: Pillow 14" x 14" x 7"; Blanket 32" x 52"; see official instructions for clarification)
Personal Hygiene & Toiletries:
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Deodorant
- Biodegradable soap bars or liquid
- Inhalers for breathing difficulties if necessary
- Travel-sized or pre-approved razors
- Any specific medical devices (e.g., epinephinders) for special needs
Miscellaneous Items:
- Snacks you like (approved items with proper storage containers)
- Water bottle with hygiene wipes and cleaning station
- Extra glasses contact lenses and a copy of your prescription if applicable (soft contacts work best under combat boots!)
- Hearing aid batteries, wax guards or wax plugs
- Sunglasses
- Watch battery or replacement straps (get it replaced beforehand to maintain its functionality during boot)
- Earplugs
