Sig P250 and The Sig P320
Before we move on to look at each gun individually, let us first point out the main difference between the two.
The P250 is an older model design. And the firing of this pistol relies on the hammer system. While on the other hand, the P320 is an upgraded version of the P250 and makes use of the striker system.
Both these guns are dependable and fully competent weapons, that just have that one crucial difference to their design. This difference in itself may not sound too much to someone not familiar with pistol shooting. But those of you in the know will realize it is a major point to consider when discussing and considering a new gun purchase.
OK, let us move on and take a closer look at each pistol individually…
Sig Sauer P250
First to go is the Sig Sauer P250. As said, this is an older design of gun that caused a lot of excitement when first released in the world of gun lovers back in 2007. At that time it really caused quite a stir with its revolutionary new design. It was innovative, and Sigarms saw potential in it at a time when concealed carry laws were changing.
The Sig P250 led the way with a new breed of guns, becoming one of the first modular handguns to be released upon the world.
Construction
The P250 has a steel-framed control unit. This is the primary module that you can then customize to your own specifications and preferences. Choose this model, and it gives you the option of changing slide sizes, the polymer grips as well as even the chambering system. And you are able to set up the chambers to hold anywhere between six and seventeen rounds. Now that is a pretty wide range of choice.
Pick up a P250, and you can feel at once you are bearing a serious piece of kit. For recreational purposes, this is a gun that is able and superb for use. But what we are looking at here is a gun with a purpose – and that purpose is self-defense.

The modular design makes for a very user-friendly weapon. Disassembly requires no tools, and even changing the caliber can be done in just a matter of minutes. This means that if you are ever in a situation that calls for you to swap out for a different caliber, you can switch from .40 to .357 within a minute. Now that is what we call a fine feature.
If you were to buy a P250 for your own use, you will first have to practice and then keep practicing. This is to become accustomed to the hammer double-action system. The trigger has a lot of travel before firing. Once you have sussed it out, then you will find this a pleasure to shoot.
Accuracy, of course, relies on the user, but this gun gives you the confidence to fire off and hit your target. It is able to drive a nail into a piece of timber from 50 feet away. There is a challenge for you. Ha, go on, go and see if you can do that! Believe us when we say it can be done with the P250.
We now ask how tough and reliable this gun is?
Well, the answer is extremely. The P250 is a very durable gun that, if kept clean and well maintained, it will not break down on you.
It will suit casual shooters and pros alike. A gun that you can rely on for shooting targets out on the range. Equally so to be relied upon under heavy fire while on patrol in some dingy downtown ghetto. A gun that can excel in both worlds.
It is very comfortable in the hand for use. The design is very boxy though, due to the modular system so, to some, it is considered an unattractive pistol. The good thing is, if you are not 100% comfortable with one grip, you can swap it out. The whole range of options the P250 offers means you really can personalize this to your own standards.
For an ‘old boy on the block’ the Sig Sauer P250 still ‘stands tall.’
OK, so now let us move on and take a closer look at the Sig Sauer P320…
SIG Sauer P320
The P320 is very much the same gun as the P250. It uses the same modular system, and it has the ability to be customized in the same manner to please your own objectives of what you want in a firearm.
So, what is it that makes them so different if they are so similar?
Well, it lies in the firing system. A P250 has a recessed spurless hammer system in operation, whereas the P320 makes use of a more modern striker system design. So which gun you decide on will all boil down to which firing system you prefer.
Let us explain in a little bit more detail…
On the whole, a striker system is faster to the draw. It is basically ready to shoot off a round the instant it is in the chamber. More experienced users really do love this fast-action feature, but before you go getting all ‘gung-ho,’ there is one major safety issue that needs to be considered.
Guns that use the striker firing system are much more likely to fail drop tests under certain circumstances. Owners and users of this pistol really do give rave reviews as to its accuracy. You need to remember, though, that accuracy improves with use, time, and experience. If you perceiver and stick to these three points, you will be hitting bullseyes wherever you aim the gun.

We recommend if at all possible to handle both of them and even fire off a few rounds. That is the only way you will fully understand how two very similar looking and designed guns can actually be so different.
